In the tradition of its predecessors, this year's Summer School is designed to meet the needs of students and researchers who are entering the field of humour studies, with a range of interest that runs from the philosophical through the physiological to the practical. At the same time, the programme also addresses itself to trained scholars in the natural sciences and the humanities who are considering embarking on new investigations of humour or laughter-related phenomena.

The course programme consists of different structural components which are intended to address the various interests and needs of the participants in the best possible way. Lecture classes by a selected group of experienced international scholars make up the bulk of the programme (see http://humoursummerschool.org/events for information about previous summer schools in this series). These "talks" are supplemented by workshops, a Symposium (where participants present their own research), and opportunities for individual discussions with the speakers ("Meet the Lecturer"). Sessions are held from Monday morning to Saturday afternoon. One afternoon is set aside for relaxation and sight-seeing.
