Postgraduate Scholarships for Research in Linguistics and Phonetics, University of Leeds, available for study commencing in 2017/18

The School of Languages, Cultures and Societies at the University of Leeds invites excellent applications for studentships in Linguistics and Phonetics. Our staff and research students are active members of the Language at Leeds research network, which draws together researchers in linguistics and language studies from across the University of Leeds. We are also members of a number of smaller research groups such as the Language Development and Cognition Group, a satellite of the Leeds Centre for Interdisciplinary Childhood and Youth Research. Linguistics and Phonetics also houses the Leeds Child Development Unit, a research group and dedicated space for studying how children learn to communicate.

Currently we offer supervision in specialist areas of the following areas of study: phonetics, phonology, interactional linguistics, generative syntax, L1 and L2 language acquisition, pragmatics, discourse analysis, sociolinguistics, psycholinguistics, language evolution, and language documentation. We welcome postgraduate and postdoctoral researchers to join our vibrant research community and work with us in these areas. For more information about all the research specialisms of individual members of staff in Linguistics and Phonetics, please see our website.
