Anyone working on the language of statistical/probabilistic reasoning?

Does anyone know of any work in linguistics on the language that children (and citizens) need in order to interpret statistics? This could be important for education, where quantitative reasoning is seen as an area of national weakness and one approach being considered is to see it as a challenge for literacy rather than numeracy.
