The British Academy in partnership with Newcastle University is sponsoring the Neuro-cognition of Developmental Disorders Affecting Language (NDDAL) Workshop, which will take place on 9 July 2013. This workshop aims to bring together world-leading experts and established researchers, as well as early-career researchers,  post-doctoral and post-graduate researchers interested in various cognitive and neural aspects of developmental disorders affecting language, particularly Developmental Dyslexia and Specific Language Impairment, but also Autism Spectrum Disorders, Tourette Syndrome, and Williams Syndrome. 

 We are delighted to have Professor Michael T. Ullman (Georgetown University)  as the Keynote speaker.  Prof. Ullman's research examines the brain bases of first and second language, how language and memory are affected in various disorders, and how factors such as sex, handedness, and genetic variability affect the brain bases of language and memory.  He is the proponent of the Declarative/Procedural Theory of language.

His talk is entitled "SLI, dyslexia, autism, and other neuro-developmental disorders: Insights from procedural and declarative memory"
