Call for commentators
The Past and Future of UG
to take place in Durham, 15-18 December 2011
Keywords: Universal Grammar; evolution of language; language and thought; models of the language faculty; language and the brain; syntax; genetics of language; Minimalism.
We invite researchers from linguistics, neuroscience, psychology, archaeology, biology, and philosophy to apply to give a commentary on one of the invited talks of the conference The Past and Future of UG, in line with their areas of expertise. Applications from advanced doctorate students, postdocs, and faculty are equally encouraged. Commentaries are planned to maximally take 10 minutes, and to introduce the discussion sessions.
We are looking for commentators for papers by: Nick Chater, Guglielmo Cinque, Gavin Clowry, Ewa Dabrowska, Wolfram Hinzen, Anders Holmberg, Elisabeth Leiss, Christopher Petkov, Ian Roberts, Tom Roeper, Maggie Tallerman, Ian Tattersall, Nathalie Tzourio- Mazoyer, Rosemary Varley, Jill de Villiers.
(Note that there are no commentaries planned for the associated public lectures and the workshop UG – The Minimum)

We can offer a partial compensation towards travel and accommodation expenses of £200 in total per commentator.
A number of hotel rooms have been reserved, which begin from £50 per night. At the beginning of the Michaelmas term, college accommodation may become available, at a cheaper price.
