The current chair of the University Council of General and Applied Linguistics (UCGAL) Susan Hunston is stepping down in June 2019 and nominations are invited for her successor. The secretary and treasurer positions are also up for re-election, so nominations are invited for these positions also, though the incumbents will also be standing for re-election.

The Council was established in 2009, to provide a unified voice on public policy matters for linguistics within the UK higher education community, linking together major learned societies and associations in the field.

If you would like to nominate yourself or any other UK-based academic for any of these positions, please contact the LAGB president: David Adger <d.j.adger@qmul.ac.uk>.

If you have any questions about these roles, especially that of chair, please contact the current UCGAL chair: Susan Hunston <S.E.HUNSTON@BHAM.AC.UK> directly.
