University of the Year 2014/2015 - Times Higher Education Awards
About You
With a relevant higher degree and experience of degree-level teaching you will demonstrate an established specialism in the History of the English Language, particularly medieval and/or early modern English. An additional secondary specialism in Language and gender and/or Forensic Linguistics would also be welcome. You will also be an ambitious researcher, actively generating peer-reviewed outputs and pursuing external income.
Excellent communication skills, time and workload management skills and a strong commitment to the welfare and success of students will be key to your success in this stimulating multi-disciplinary department.
About the Role
This is an opportunity for a research-active academic committed to excellence in teaching and learning to contribute to the core English Language curriculum, as well as enhancing the diversity of the programme by developing new specialist options. You will provide expert teaching in a variety of modes, including lectures, seminars, tutorials, and online interaction, and facilitate student work in a range of different media.
There are opportunities to make substantial contributions to curriculum design. The successful candidate will play an active role in the development of English Language at Edge Hill, including collaborations with other subjects and departments in the university, and the Skills, Personal Development, and Employability agenda.
Candidates should be committed to innovation in Learning, Teaching and Assessment, and be reflective practitioners of HE teaching.
