The School of English and Languages is seeking to appoint an academic to a permanent position in the Surrey Morphology Group at Lecturer or Senior Lecturer level.  Depending on the role and experience level, the successful applicant will be an active researcher with an international profile and experience in managing large research projects, or have demonstrated potential in these areas. The postholder will in due course take a leadership role within the Group, and contribute to the running of current projects and developing future funded projects.   S/he will also contribute to the research culture of the School of English and Languages, to the postgraduate research culture of the School, to administration within the School, and to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching within the disciplines of English and Communication.

The Group's current work ranges from fieldwork (on Daghestanian, Oto-Manguean, Slavonic and Papuan languages) to morphological theory (especially Network Morphology), typology (including Canonical Typology) and computational modelling.  At School level, the School of English and Languages offers a collaborative and successful research environment, and within this, the Surrey Morphology Group has research projects funded by the European Research Council (Advanced Grant on Morphological Complexity), the ESRC and the AHRC (including the EuroBABEL scheme).

Informal enquiries may be made to Professor Diane Watt (d.watt@surrey.ac.uk), Dr Matthew Baerman (m.baerman@surrey.ac.uk) or Professor Greville Corbett (g.corbett@surrey.ac.uk).

Expressions of interest for a higher appointment, from academics with an exceptional international research reputation, will also be welcome.

Closing date for applications: 3rd May 2012
