    The School of English Literature, Language and Linguistics at Newcastle University, UK wishes to make a full-time appointment in the area of Sociolinguistics with specialisms in phonetic/phonological, (morpho-)syntactic or discourse-pragmatic variation from 1 September 2012. Applicants must have a PhD in Sociolinguistics or a closely related sub-area, relevant teaching experience and evidence of research achievement and potential appropriate to stage of career. Applicants whose teaching and research experience have a quantitative orientation and who have an excellent and developing research programme in an area that has potential for attracting external funding relating to variation and change in English are preferred.
