Dear All,

The Linguistics Olympiad is about to take place but we find ourselves critically short of volunteer markers. Please consider offering your help, either as an individual or (better still) by organising a 'markathon' in your department. The work is interesting (as an insight into the teenage mind) and mostly mechanical, as we provide a detailed marking scheme. Some details:

• It has to be carried out in the week 10-16 Feb, so please don't offer if you can't meet that deadline.
  
• You decide how many scripts to accept. At a conservative guess, you can allow 10 minutes per script.
• It's all done electronically, so you can either mark online or download and print.
