With apologies for cross-posting
Dear all,
The Linguistics Association of Great Britain Postgraduate Student Committee is holding a series of workshops on applying to PhDs in Linguistics in the UK. Please do share with any undergraduates/postgraduates who may be interested.
We are kicking off the series on Thursday 7 August 2025 at 16:30 with “So you think you want to do a PhD?”. With experience of gaining (fully funded) PhD offers across historical, theoretical and sociolinguistics in England and Scotland, committee members Fae Hicks (Edinburgh) and Zara Fahim (Nottingham) will guide you through each stage of the application process, from approaching a supervisor and writing a proposal, to interviews and hopefully deciding between (funded!) offers.
Here's a sneak-peak of what else is coming up:
11th September: Writing your research proposal
9th October: Making your application stand out
6th November: Applying for funding
8th January: Preparing for interview
5th February: Weighing your options
Each session will run at 16:30 – 17:30 UK time on Teams. The joining link is now available on our website (https://www.lagbpsc.co.uk/events/applying-for-phds).
Any enquiries do email us: lagbpsc@gmail.com
Please do share widely!
Best wishes,
The Linguistics Association for Great Britain Postgraduate Student Committee (LAGBPSC)
