    Dear LAGB members,

Hope you are well. Please kindly see below for a message and request for help from my colleague Bill who has been working closely with colleagues in Gaza for over a decade. Please kindly contact him in the email address provided below if you have any resources that you may be able to share.

    Thanks so much in advance!

    Best wishes,
    Alex

For the past three years, staff at Northumbria University have been working on several projects linked to English language-teaching at the Islamic University of Gaza.

This week, our colleague there, Professor Nazmi Al Masri, contacted us to ask for help.  He directs the BA and MA courses in ELT.  He is in urgent need of a Discourse Analysis course at masters level, and of academics who are able to deliver it.  He’s talking about starting in the next fortnight, if possible.

     My two questions are:

    • ·       Do you have any materials which we might be able to use or refer to in a course?
    • ·       Would any of you be willing to offer your time to deliver one two-hour input, via Zoom?

I am not a discourse analyst myself, but sufficiently informed to lead a Critical Discourse Analysis session as part of whatever we are able to offer.

If you feel you might be able to help with this specific request (or are interested more generally in helping Nazmi’s students), please get in touch with me, Bill Guariento: william.guariento@northumbria.ac.uk

    Best wishes,

    Bill
