English Language and Linguistics Undergraduate Student Conference 2025

We are excited to announce the University of Kent Linguistics UG Student Conference, a celebration of research, achievement, and collaboration within the community. The conference will include a keynote talk by a guest speaker and presentations from students on their dissertations and research aims. This event provides an excellent opportunity to share your work, gain feedback, and network with fellow linguists and researchers.

About the Conference

The conference welcomes submissions from all areas of linguistics, including but not limited to psycholinguistics, sociolinguistics, and the philosophy of language. We encourage submissions from students at the University of Kent and any other invited universities- please feel free to apply!

Invited Speakers

We are delighted to confirm our speaker, Dr Alexandra Perovic, specialising in fields such as:

• Linguistics
• Clinical sciences
• Applied and developmental psychology
• Applied linguistics and educational linguistics
• Child language acquisition

Call for Papers

We invite students to submit abstracts for:

     1.     Oral Presentations: 10-minute talks and a 5-minute Q&A session.

     2.     Poster Presentations: Displayed throughout the event, with designated time for discussion.

Abstract Guidelines

If interested, we ask that you follow this link to submit your abstract for either an oral presentation or poster display.

   •        Abstracts should be no more than 250 words, outlining your research aims, methods, and findings (or anticipated findings).

   •        Please indicate whether your submission is for an oral presentation or a poster.

Submit your abstracts via this link, or by email to ks864@kent.ac.uk. Ensure your submission includes your name, university, and degree program and answer all questions.

The deadline for abstract submissions is 3rd March 2025.
