The sub-committee for race and social justice in linguistics is running a session at the upcoming LAGB meeting, 2–4pm on Friday 30th August. The details are below. We hope to be able to have hybrid attendance, meaning that you can join us even if you are not planning to attend the LAGB meeting in person. (Though please do bear with us if the technology isn't perfect; the rooms are not equipped for this so we are planning a workaround.)
Race, Social Justice and Equailty meeting (open session) (14:00–16:00, Friday 30th August, Percy G.13)
In this session we will launch the Decolonisation FAQs that LAGB members have contributed to, followed by a discussion of one of the chapters of the recent OUP volume ‘Decolonizing linguistics’ (Charity Hudley et al.). If you have the time, you might like to read the chapter below in advance of the session, but don’t worry if you aren’t able to do this; come along anyway and join what we think will be an interesting discussion.
