    Lecturer in Phonology and Phonetics

The Department of Modern Languages and Linguistics at the University of Kent is looking to appoint a part-time lecturer in phonology and phonetics, for the 2021-2022 academic year. Applicants should have completed a PhD in Linguistics or related discipline, and have experience teaching phonetics and phonology at undergraduate level. The role will also involve supervising undergraduate and masters level dissertations; prior experience in a mentorship role is desirable but not necessary.

The post is 0.5 FTE for 12 months, with the possibility of extension beyond 12 months. We encourage applicants to simultaneously apply for the laboratory technician/coordinator post described below. Please see https://jobs.kent.ac.uk/vacancy.aspx?ref=AHUM-051-21-R for further details, and to apply.

    Laboratory Technician

The Department of MLL would like to appoint a coordinator and technician to oversee the department’s Linguistics Laboratory. The post is part-time (equivalent to 0.4 FTE), initially for 12 months with the possibility of extension. We would ideally prefer to appoint one person to both the lab role and the lectureship in phonology/phonetics.

The lab has a recording studio and equipment, an eye-tracker, and behavioural testing rooms. The ideal person for this role will have experience carrying out behavioural experiments, including designing experiments and analysing data, and some programming experience. For further details and to apply, see https://jobs.kent.ac.uk/vacancy.aspx?ref=AHUM-052-21-R.

Please contact Dr Christina Kim (c.s.kim@kent.ac.uk) with any inquiries related to either post.
