Covid-19 and trust, expertise and policymaking

In preparing for an online meeting about this topic next week I'm wondering whether any colleagueshave been working on it, or even thinking about it. Language is clearly our main tool for building trust and for both developing and implementing policy, but it seems to be a pretty neutral instrument, as well suited for lying and misleading as for telling the truth, so do we linguists have anything to contribute to the debate?
