The University Council of Modern Languages is pleased to announce the creation of a Special Interest Group for Early Career Academics: https://university-council-modern-languages.org/early-career-academics/. You will see on the website that there are three main initiatives on the agenda for the immediate future, primarily the creation of an Early Career Charter that will be shaped by members of the SIG. We are looking forward to involving a broad range of people who self-identify as ECAs, with the goal of representing the diverse community in Modern Languages.

We invite institutions and individuals to pass on this invitation to prospective members of the SIG, with the request for interested ECAs to make direct contact with UCML’s Administrative Assistant, Dr James Illingworth, at ji60@le.ac.uk. Anyone responding to this invitation will be enrolled in a mailing list that will be used exclusively to circulate information about the SIG’s activities – by letting UCML’s Administrative Assistant know about joining the SIG, individuals are consenting to have their data held by UCML under the provisions of the General Data Protection Regulation. Individuals can unsubscribe from the mailing list at any time by contacting UCML’s Administrative Assistant.
