    Part-time Departmental Lecturer in Syntax

Faculty of Linguistics, Philology and Phonetics, Clarendon Institute, Walton Street, Oxford

    Grade 7: £31,076 - £38,183 p.a. (pro rata)

The Faculty of Linguistics, Philology and Phonetics invites applications for a temporary Departmental Lecturer in Syntax to cover the leave of staff in the area from January 2017 – July 2021. This is a fixed-term contract until 30 September 2021. The appointment is to cover the flexible working arrangement of a postholder who will be retiring at that point.

The postholder is expected primarily to lecture and teach undergraduate and graduate students in Syntax and will have the opportunity to conduct some independent research. She or he will also be expected to engage in examination assessment, admissions processes, and faculty administration, specifically coordinating Prelims Paper X, acting as Course Director for the Faculty’s UNIQ Summer School, and no more than one other role as required. The summer school takes place for one week in July, and aimed to introduce linguistics to sixth formers from neighbourhoods with historically low participation in Higher Education. Teaching will be concentrated in Hilary Term (January - March) but other duties are spread throughout the year.

The closing date for applications is 12.00 noon on 2 December 2016.
