We have received the following message from the University Council of Modern Languages. In light of recent media stories that have appeared about the Ukrainian language, pronunciation of 'Kyiv', etc., linguists with relevant expertise might want to add their names to the list. Message:

I am writing to invite colleagues with research specialisms relating to Ukraine and the Russian Federation to submit their contact details to a listing of experts currently being complied by UCML.

In recent days, there have been calls on social media for experts to provide information or commentary on the current crisis. Knowledge of the culture and language of Ukraine, the Russian Federation and wider region is one aspect of these calls. The Royal Historical Society has put out a similar call for experts.

In response, UCML is now compiling a listing of its members with expertise in relevant fields. The listing will be made available to verifiable media outlets who approach us with requests for assistance.
